Venice: Queen of the Adriatic

Our journey begins in Venice, where we’ll spend two nights at the four-star Donà Palace Hotel, tucked just steps from St. Mark’s Basilica and the heart of the city’s historic center. This central location allows us to settle in and experience Venice at an easy pace, with time to wander quiet canals, admire elegant bridges, and take in the atmosphere of one of Italy’s most unforgettable cities.

During our time here, we’ll take part in a private Venetian mask-making workshop, learning about one of the city’s most iconic artistic traditions while creating a piece of our own to take home. (no artistic skills required!) We’ll also explore Venice with a private guide, discovering the stories, history, and hidden corners that bring the city to life beyond its famous landmarks.

Our first evening together will be marked with a welcome dinner at a family-owned restaurant and enoteca, where regional wines and Venetian flavors set the tone for the journey ahead. It will be a warm and memorable beginning to our time together as we travel through Italy’s icons, artisans, and living traditions.

Tuscany: Florence, Artisans, and the Beauty of the Countryside

From Venice, we’ll continue to Tuscany, where Florence will be our home for five nights. We’ll stay at Hotel Degli Orafi, a centrally located hotel overlooking the Arno River and famously featured in A Room with a View. With breakfast included each morning and the city’s historic center just outside our door, Florence offers the perfect base for exploring both the treasures of the Renaissance and the quieter corners of Tuscany.

During our time in Florence, we’ll experience the city with a private guide, moving beyond the major landmarks to discover hidden churches, artisan workshops, tucked-away streets, and the stories that give Florence its layered beauty. We’ll also take part in a private marble artisan workshop, learning about a Renaissance art form and creating our own piece of marble art to take home.

Beyond Florence, we’ll spend a day in the Val d’Orcia, one of Tuscany’s most beloved landscapes, visiting the hill town of Pienza and the wine town of Montalcino. We’ll also step outside Tuscany for a day in Bologna, where a walking food tour will introduce us to one of Italy’s most celebrated culinary cities.

This part of the journey is designed to reveal Florence and Tuscany through art, craftsmanship, food, and landscape — a balance of iconic beauty and meaningful local experiences.
